The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the RRB ALP Exam to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot. Indian Railways has released the RRB ALP 2024 notification for the recruitment of 18799 Assistant Loco Pilots posts. Lakhs of candidates with Matriculation / SSLC pass certificates with ITI and Diploma between the age group of 18 to 30 years had applied for RRB ALP Recruitment 2024. The online CBT Exam for RRB ALP Recruitment 2024 will be conducted from 25th to 29th November 2024. RRB ALP 2024 Notification
Railway Recruitment Board released the RRB ALP Recruitment 2024 Notification pdf (CEN No. 2024) for 18799 Vacancies of Assistant Loco Pilots posts. The RRB ALP City Intimation Link has been activated. The CBT I Exam will be scheduled from 25th to 29th November 2024. The city intimation window will be active from 15th to 19th November 2024. RRB ALP Apply Online 2024
Candidates can apply online for the RRB ALP Exam through the official RRB website. The online application link was open from 20th January 2024 to 19th February 2024. The steps to apply online for RRB ALP Recruitment are as follows –

Step 1 – Official RRB Website
Use the direct link provided above and visit the official RRBs Website for your respective zone to apply online for the RRB ALP Recruitment. Click on the Apply button on top of the page.
Step 2 – Online Registration
If you are a first-time applicant, you will be required to Create an Account before beginning your registration. Enter your Personal and Educational details as well as Identity Proofs to start your Online Registration process. Verify your account by generating an OTP.
Step 3 – Login & Fill RRB ALP Application Form
Once you have created your account, you can now Login and start filling up the online application for RRB ALP Recruitment 2024. Enter the required details such as educational qualification, community, gender, religion, categories, etc. as asked in the online form.
Step 4 – Pay RRB ALP Application Fees
The RRB has notified the application fee for different categories in the official notification. The RRB ALP application fees will be different for males and females as well.
Step 5 – Complete Part II of the Online Application Form
Once you have paid the online application fee, you will now be required to complete the online application form by filling in the following details –
Scribe Details (If applicable)
In this section, PwD candidates needing a scribe will need to upload the recent passport size photograph of the scribe in the jpeg/jpg format of size 10Kb to 50Kb. Provide details of the scribe like name, relationship and phone number in the given fields. Candidates are advised not to change scribes at the exam centre but in exceptional cases it is allowed after recording reasons and uploading the scribe's photo.
Detailed Educational Qualification
Starting from 10th standard, fill columns like examination name, year of passing, school/college name, subject studied, maximum marks, marks obtained and percentage of marks. Candidates with diploma/degree need to select the relevant trade/discipline from the dropdown menu they wish to appear for in Part B test.
Exam Language Choice
The default language is English. Candidates can select other language from the dropdown list if they want to attempt the question paper in it. Candidates need to note that the content of English version will be final in case of any discrepancy with the selected language.
Upload Photograph & Certificates
Click the 'Upload Photograph' tab and select a recently taken photograph in the format of jpg/jpeg. The photo should be 35mm x 45mm with the name and date printed on it. File size should be between 15-40 KB. Similarly, click 'Upload SC/ST Certificate' and select the scanned copy of the certificate in jpg/jpeg format of 50-100 KB size. You may use the Testbook Photo Resize Tool to optimize the size of these documents for uploading in the prescribed dimensions.
Data Sharing Consent
Put a checkbox if consent is given to share exam scores with other government organizations for recruitment purposes.
Declaration
Carefully read the declaration and confirm by putting a tick mark before final submission. Preview completely filled form and find/fix any errors. Take a printed copy on confirmation for records.
Step 6 – Printout RRB ALP Application Form
Submit the application form and take a printout of the same for reference in the future selection process.
RRB ALP Application Fee
In order to complete the RRB ALP application process, the candidates must pay the application fee as prescribed for the respective category. Details of the same are mentioned below

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2024
- Candidates between the age group of 18 - 33 years are eligible to apply for the RRB ALP Recruitment.
- Only candidates with a Matriculation + Apprenticeship/Diploma qualification in relevant disciplines are eligible to apply for the Assistant Loco Pilot post.
RRB ALP Selection Process
CBT Stage 1
It consists of 75 objective questions for 75 marks to be completed in 75 minutes. Questions are asked from Mathematics, General Science, General Awareness and, Mental Ability. Candidates need to score minimum qualifying marks separately in each subject.
CBT Stage 2
It has 175 objective questions for 175 marks with a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. Questions are from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering and relevant trade. Candidates who clear Stage 1 are eligible for this stage.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
It consists of aptitude tests conducted in batteries. Candidates need minimum qualifying marks of 42 in each test battery irrespective of category. Questions will be in both English and Hindi languages. Marks obtained will be used along with CBT 2 marks to prepare the merit list with 70% weightage to CBT 2 and 30% to CBAT.
Document Verification & Medical Examination
Documents of qualified candidates will be verified by RRBs to check the eligibility and credentials. This includes checking original documents of age, educational qualification, caste/category certificate etc. Candidates will undergo prescribed medical tests by the appointed medical board to ensure they are medically fit for the post. Those who are not fit will be rejected at this stage.
RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2024
As per the official RRB ALP exam pattern, there will be two Computer Based Tests which all the candidates have to appear for. Candidates should be familiar with the exam pattern for both these tests in order to qualify for the ALP posts in the various RRBs across the country. RRB ALP Syllabus 2024
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the detailed for all stages of the ALP selection process, i.e., CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT.
- For CBT 1, the syllabus includes Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness & Current Affairs.
- CBT 2 syllabus has two parts – Part A includes Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning and Basic Science & Engineering. Part B is a qualifying test covering technical trades.

RRB ALP Admit Card
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will release the admit card for all the computer based test stages of RRB ALP Recruitment i.e. CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT on the official regional RRB websites. Candidates can download the admit card by logging in using their registration number/roll number and date of birth. The RRB ALP admit card contains details like name, roll number, exam date, exam center details, instructions for candidates etc. Candidates must carry a printed copy of their admit card to the exam centre along with a valid ID proof. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without a valid admit card and ID proof. Candidates must keep a copy of their handy at all times during the selection process.
RRB ALP Cut Off 2024 (Expected)
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is expected to release the RRB ALP Cut Off 2024 after the completion of the RRB ALP 2024 Computer Based Test (CBT). Separate category-wise cut-offs will be announced for all the participating RRBs based on various factors like region, number of vacancies, difficulty level of the exam, and candidates' performance.
